Company Overview:
Broken Wall Films, LLC is a new media focused production company from central Massachusetts. Frugal use of funds and creative use of technology has allowed them to create tens of short films, a web series, and an award-winning feature film. Creative techniques in production have allowed Broken Wall Films to become arguably the most efficient production company in the northeast.
Broken Wall Films began as a student-run production company 2006 and has evolved along with digital film technology. The progression from standard definition indie camcorders like the Canon XL1 to high definition cameras like the Canon XL-H1 and full frame HD still cameras has been rapid but it's a challenge that Broken Wall Films, LLC has met head-on.
About the Team:
Alex Laferriere – Director
Alex Laferriere graduated in the class of 2009 from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, MA with a degree in Interactive Media and Game Design along with a minor in Entrepreneurship and Writing & Rhetoric. Mr. Laferriere interviewed Ralph H. Baer, the creator of the first home entertainment system, for a small documentary on Baer’s work. Mr. Laferriere and a team of fellow students also wrote, edited, and planned an interactive movie, which Mr. Laferriere directed. The premise was to create a movie/video game hybrid where the user could choose the story and ending he or she wanted to see. Since his graduation, Mr. Laferriere has completed several freelance videography projects for WPI and works at Harvard University as a Video Technician.
During the summer of 2008, he began work as the director on his first feature-length project titled, “Something Remote.” He wrote and directed the project in the summer months and edited the film in the fall of 2008 in time for the movie’s submission to several film festivals. The movie would go on to win “Funniest Flick” and “Best Picture” at the 2009 Silk City Flick Fest in Manchester, CT.
Nicholas Allain – Producer
Nicholas Allain was the Lead Producer on the feature length film, “Something Remote”. He also provided digital special effects and audio editing. He has been one of the main forces behind Broken Wall Film’s successes over the past three years. He graduated Magna Cum Laude in the class of 2009 from Becker College in Worcester, MA with a Bachelor of Arts in Interactive Media. Straight out of college, Mr. Allain found a job working on two high profile projects in the video game industry. He has run his own web development company for ten years with the aim of helping small businesses and private individuals take advantage of the internet.
Steven DiTullio – Producer
Steve DiTullio is an Actuarial Mathematics Major with a minor in Management at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Mr. DiTullio joined the team prior to “Something Remote”. He was hired as the Assistant Producer and received hands-on training while on the set of the movie. Mr. DiTullio was in charge of the marketing for the movie and was responsible for the legwork for festival submissions as well as other growth opportunities. Mr. DiTullio’s business expertise has been instrumental in forging contacts in the industry while developing documents and agendas for the development and advancement of the company.
